Activating Your AI Texting Number

To ensure your AI assistant can legally send texts to homeowners (like pricing guides, portfolios, or appointment confirmations), major mobile carriers require your business to be registered. We've automated this entire process for you.

Step 1: Submit Your Business Details

You provide three pieces of information in Settings > Company profile, under the License & legal section, exactly as they appear on your tax documents:

• Legal business name — required
• Legal business address — required
• EIN / Tax ID — optional if you're a sole proprietor (see below)

Legal business address is its own field

Legal business address is not your Mailing Address. They are two separate fields on the Company profile page: Mailing Address sits under Address & contact and prints on estimates, while Legal business address sits under License & legal and is what the carriers check. Filling in one does not fill in the other.

If either the legal business name or the legal business address is blank, registration will not start — you'll be asked to complete the business identity fields first. See Company Profile for where each field lives.

Why do we need your EIN?

An EIN helps mobile carriers verify that you are a legitimate business. We use it exclusively to register your brand with The Campaign Registry (TCR) so your text messages are never blocked as spam. We do not use your EIN for any other purpose.

No EIN? Sole proprietors can still register. If you don't have an EIN, you can register as a sole proprietor using your legal business name and legal business address alone. Sole-proprietor registrations are approved at a lower daily texting throughput tier, which is plenty for most solo operators.

Step 2: Automated Compliance

Once submitted, ContractorScope AI automatically:

1. Generates your required Privacy Policy and Terms of Service pages
2. Packages your business data into a carrier-compliant registration
3. Submits your application directly to the carrier registry via API

You don't have to fill out any complex telecom forms.

Step 3: Approval Timeline

Carrier approval typically takes 3 to 5 business days. During this period:

• Your AI Voice Assistant can start making phone calls immediately
• The ability to send text messages will remain paused until approval clears
• You'll receive a notification when your SMS number is activated

What texts can your AI send?

Once approved, your AI assistant can text homeowners during or after calls:

• Project portfolio links — "Let me text you a link to our recent work"
• Pricing guides — "I'm sending you our pricing tiers right now"
• Appointment confirmations — Date, time, and address of scheduled estimates
• Estimate follow-ups — Gentle reminders about pending estimates

Homeowners can reply STOP at any time to opt out of text messages.

Keeping Your AI Calling & Texting Secure

Your AI voice and texting features connect to a secure calling provider behind the scenes. ContractorScope AI manages this connection for you — there is nothing you need to configure — but a couple of details are worth knowing:

• Verified connection. In our live (production) and staging environments, ContractorScope AI verifies that every call update genuinely comes from your calling provider before it is processed. If that secure connection isn't fully set up, the system safely refuses the request rather than trusting it. This is handled by our team during setup.
• Updates after a release. When we ship an update to the AI assistant's behavior (for example, new disclosure wording or call settings), your assistant is re-synced so the latest version is live. This happens as part of our deployment process — your number and registration are not affected.

If your AI assistant stops answering or texting after a recent update, give it a few minutes, then contact support if it doesn't recover.

Troubleshooting

Issue	Solution
"Missing required fields" when you try to register	Your legal business name or legal business address is blank. Open Settings > Company profile > License & legal and fill both in, then try again.
Registration stuck in "pending"	Carrier reviews can take up to 7 business days. If longer, contact support.
Registration rejected	Double-check that your legal business name, legal business address, and (if provided) EIN match your IRS records exactly.
Texts not delivering	Ensure the recipient hasn't opted out (replied STOP). Check the Voice Assistant call logs for delivery status.
