Multi-Company

If you operate more than one contracting company, run separate brands for different trade types, or manage a franchise group, the Multi-Company feature lets you handle all of them from a single ContractorScope AI login.

Each company has its own clients, estimates, price book, branding, and settings. You switch between companies with one click — no separate logins, no separate billing accounts.

note

Multi-Company is available on the Business plan. If you are on Starter or Professional, this section will not appear in your Settings. See Account and Billing to upgrade.

Managing Multiple Companies

Adding a New Company

  1. Click your company name in the top navigation bar.
  2. Select Manage Companies from the dropdown.
  3. Click Add Company.
  4. Enter the company details:
    • Company Name
    • Business type (General Contractor, Roofing, HVAC, etc.)
    • Address
    • Phone
    • Website
  5. Click Create Company.

The new company is created with its own empty data set. Your current team and billing remain on your existing company.

tip

Set up each company's branding (logo, colors, email footer) before sending any estimates from that company. Clients see branding immediately, so first impressions matter.

Setting Up Company Branding

Each company can have completely independent branding:

  1. Switch to the company you want to configure (see Switching Between Companies).
  2. Go to SettingsCompany Profile.
  3. Upload a logo, set your primary color, and fill in your company details.
  4. Go to SettingsCustomer PortalAppearance to customize the client-facing portal for that company.

All estimates, PDFs, and customer portal pages for that company will use its own branding.

Switching Between Companies

Using the Company Switcher

The company switcher is always visible in the top navigation bar, showing your currently active company name.

To switch:

  1. Click the company name in the top navigation bar.
  2. A dropdown lists all companies on your account.
  3. Click the company you want to switch to.
  4. The page reloads with that company's data loaded.

The switcher shows up to 10 companies. If you have more, use the Search field in the dropdown to find the one you need.

What Changes When You Switch

When you switch companies, everything in the application updates to reflect the selected company:

  • Dashboard shows that company's estimates and activity
  • Client list shows that company's clients only
  • Price book shows that company's pricing
  • Reports and analytics show that company's data
  • Settings reflect that company's configuration

Nothing from one company bleeds into another. Estimates, clients, and data are fully separated.

Keyboard Shortcut

On desktop, press Cmd + K (Mac) or Ctrl + K (Windows) to open the command palette, then type the company name to switch instantly.

Separate Data Per Company

Each company maintains completely independent records:

What Is Separate

Data typeSeparate per company
Clients and contactsYes
Estimates and jobsYes
Price bookYes
Invoice historyYes
Analytics and reportsYes
Settings and brandingYes
Customer portal configurationYes
Integrations (QuickBooks, etc.)Yes — each company connects separately
Email templatesYes

What Is Shared

ItemShared across companies
Your login credentialsYes — one login for all companies
Billing and subscriptionYes — one invoice covers all companies
Team member accountsYes — see Shared Team Members
Support accessYes — support can see all companies on your account

Data Isolation

Data isolation means an estimate created under Company A can never be seen, edited, or exported from Company B. If you accidentally create a record under the wrong company, you will need to recreate it under the correct one — there is no move or transfer function between companies.

warning

Always confirm which company is active (visible in the top navigation bar) before creating estimates, adding clients, or configuring settings. Records created under the wrong company must be recreated manually.

Shared Team Members

Team members can be assigned to one or more companies within your account. A team member shared across companies can switch between them the same way you do.

Adding a Team Member to Multiple Companies

  1. Go to SettingsTeam (make sure you are in the correct company).
  2. Click the team member's name.
  3. Under Company Access, check the boxes for the companies they should have access to.
  4. Set their role per company — a person can be an Estimator in one company and a Viewer in another.
  5. Click Save.

Role Inheritance

Roles do not carry over between companies. A team member's role must be set separately for each company they belong to. This lets you give a senior estimator full access in your primary company and read-only access in a subsidiary.

Team Member View

When a team member logs in, they see only the companies they have been granted access to. If they have access to multiple companies, they see the same company switcher in the top navigation bar.

Billing for Multiple Companies

Multi-company is a Business plan feature. All companies on your account are covered under a single Business plan subscription — you do not pay per company.

Usage limits (number of estimates, storage, etc.) are pooled across all companies on your account. The Account and Billing page shows total usage across all companies and a per-company breakdown.

See Account and Billing for plan details and usage limits.

Common Use Cases

Separate Brands for Different Trades

If you run a roofing company and a general contracting business under different brand names, set each up as a separate company. Clients get branded estimates from the right company, and your reporting stays clean.

Franchise or Multi-Location Groups

If you operate multiple locations under the same brand, create one company per location. Each location has its own clients and estimates, but the owner account can see everything. Use the Analytics filters to compare performance across locations.

Lead Testing

Some contractors create a second company to test new pricing, templates, or workflows before rolling them out to their main company. Use the test company freely without affecting your real data.
